Extended Tax Deadline for 2019

Remember when the IRS announced that the deadline to file AND pay your individual federal income tax for 2019 had been extended to July 15, 2020? It seemed as though there was a collective sigh of relief heard from all corners of the country.

And now, here we are: three short weeks away from that filing deadline.

Have you sent your financial reports and tax organizer to your tax preparer?

If the answer is “no” and your records are not ready, then let’s talk and get your books caught up. I don’t do tax prep – but I help many, many clients get their records ready for their tax preparer.

You know what’s going to happen, right? Your tax person is going to get slammed over the next few weeks. You don’t want to be “that guy/that gal” who walks into the tax office demanding attention to your return. Instead, take your place in line and, if necessary, allow your tax preparer to extend your return further.

If you are unable to file your return by July 15, 2020, ask your tax preparer to extend your return until October 15.

HOWEVER, remember that your tax payment is still due by July 15 – and your tax preparer is going to need good records to properly estimate the amount you owe.

If the IRS owes you a refund, then there’s no time like the present to get your tax return filed, so you can get a that cash influx as early as possible.

I have had the absolute pleasure of working remotely with several new companies this spring who took this crazy time to do something radical: they got their financial records updated and organized. Plus, they learned that keeping their books in tip-top shape is not as difficult as they had suspected.

And guess what? Their records are all caught up for the current year, too! So, when the end of the year rolls around, it will be a mere push-of-a-button to send their reports to their tax preparer next year.

Are you ready to eliminate the stress and anxiety of your taxes? Let me help you get your books in order now.
